Ljusdal Municipality is looking for an engaged supervisor for a group of summer job students in an exciting and important nature conservation project this summer. The project runs for just over six weeks, from June 17 to August 2. The purpose is to engage more young people in the municipality while increasing knowledge about nature and conservation, and carrying out practical measures that benefit our environment. The project has been successfully run during the summers of 2024 and 2025.

Responsibilities

As a supervisor, you are responsible for leading and supporting four summer job students in nature conservation work, both on land and in water. The majority of the work involves manual control of the invasive plant giant balsam square (Impatiens glandulifera) on municipal land. Giant balsam square is an EU-listed plant that, by law, must be controlled by landowners. The municipality continues the control work that started in the summer of 2023, conducts follow-ups on existing areas, and begins work on new sites.

You will also participate in the maintenance of municipal nature reserves, for example through litter picking, and assist the County Administrative Board with the relocation of freshwater pearl mussels in the Rivers of LIFE project. All necessary equipment and transport vehicles are provided. Relevant training in nature conservation is given the week before the summer job students start.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a high school diploma, hold a B driver's license, and have good knowledge of the Swedish language. You must be able to work independently and take a clear leadership role. It is also important that you are in good physical shape to handle the physically demanding work involved in this position. Merits include education in biology, nature conservation, or leadership/supervision, as well as experience in nature conservation work and supervision.
